Our School Day

Our school is open from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Full time children may attend at any time during our operational hours.
Our regular schedule is as follow:

  • Part-time mornings: from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30
  • Part-time afternoons: from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Part-time 2 days or 3 days: from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • VPK schedule will depend of your child’s class. You will talk to your Center’s Director for more detail of this service.

For our children that are enrolled in our part time program, we do offer the possibility of early arrival or late dismissal depending on the needs of each child for an extra fee.

For our school age children we do provide both early arrival care and late dismissal care.

We encourage our families to develop a consistent arrival and departure schedule. Please, practice calm drop off and pick up of your child, allowing your child to successfully settle in for the day and finish his/her activity before departure.

Nutritious Food

Healthy eating habits are fundamental skills for young children. We will help your child learn about and enjoy a variety of nutritious foods every day. It is our goal to provide a variety of healthful meals and snacks that are nutritious and properly portioned for your child. Our menu meets federal and state requirement established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). We work with our food provider to ensure appropriate portion sizes and nutritional ingredients for children and their appropriate ages.

We provide meals and snacks that include a variety of food groups including meat and meat alternates, bread and grains, fruits, vegetables and milk. Our meals and snacks provide nutrition for children including carbohydrates, proteins and fat to give children energy, while maintaining total calories within recommended ranges specific to a child’s age group.

If your child has a special nutritional need or requires an accommodation to our menu, we will work with your family to create a plan that meets your child’s needs.

Our menus rotate on a four-week schedule to provide variety for your child. Our menus change two times each year:

  • Fall/Winter (October – March)
  • Spring/Summer (April – September)

Fitness/Physical Education

The Discovery Tree Academy® teachers encourage physical fitness through a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities. We encourage our children to be active by giving them opportunities explore our inviting playground.

Extra-Curricular Classes

We are pleased to offer extra-curricular activities, for an additional fee.

Ballet and Tap classes

Ballet and Tap instruction are offered to children age 3-5 years old. Children will focus on poise, balance, concentration, and memory… while having fun! Your child may participate in a dance recital at the end of the dance season. Classes start the first week of September, are held once a week and consist of 1/2 hour of Ballet and 1/2 hour of Tap. Classes end the last week of May, with a dance recital being held, usually, the first Saturday of June.

Music classes

Introduce your child to the joys of playing music! The music teacher will teach your child a basic knowledge of music theory, rhythm, and various musical styles through fun and easy games! They will be introduced to a rich variety of musical instruments. They will also learn rhythmical exercises and how to play a simple melody. Activities include a mixture of musical genres and styles and provide a setting for your child to explore his/her many voices. This program will be open for children 3-4 years of age.

Sports classes

Our sports classes are held for a group of 3-5 years old and a group of 6-12 years old. Sport sessions start the first week of October until last week of May. The primary objective of each session is to creatively introduce your child to the sports of basketball, baseball, tennis, lacrosse and soccer. Our sessions are progressive in nature; starting with the basic movement patterns for the younger children and progressing to sport drills for the older kids. This program uses these sports as the means to teach life skills: sharing, taking turns, listening, empathy, teamwork. Each class is taught in a fun and positive environment where every child is given the opportunity to succeed.

Transportation

If your school-aged child attends a nearby public school but your schedule prevents you from providing transportation, we will drop off your child in the morning and pick him/her up after school. Ask your center’s director if we go to your child’s school.
